About Ayrshire

Though much of Ayrshire may be famed for its many world class golf courses, North Ayrshire is in itself a treasure trove of activities and finds for day visitors and holiday makers alike. Many of the attractions are only a stone's throw from our doorstep here at The Blair. So why not complete your day here with us by combining a visit, activity or some shopping locally with a lunch or dinner to round it all off?

Up until the late 19th century, the Royal Burgh of Irvine was one of Scotland's major seaports and today is home to the Scottish Maritime Museum. Irvine's harbour-side is a focal point for leisure and the vibrant Harbour Arts Centre. The Magnum Leisure Centre offers all sorts of leisure activities for all ages and the Rivergate Shopping Mall provides plenty of indoor retail therapy opportunities.

A little further north, the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick gives quick and easy access to the beautiful Isle of Arran, whilst neighbouring West Kilbride is Scotland's only Craft Village - a centre for small, specialist retailers.

Still on this same stretch of coastline is Kelburn Castle and Country Centre, the Largs Yacht Haven and the pretty coastal town of Largs with its wonderful Vikingar Centre and ferries to the Cumbraes.
